This replica U.S.A. Army Model 1840 NCO saber sword has a brass hilt and knuckle bow of about 6 1/4 inches in length and a blade of 32 inches in length. The scabbard is of black leather with brass fittings, typical of the M1840 (1840 Army NCO sword) prior to 1868. In 1868 the United States Army ordnance board recommended that no more leather sword or bayonet scabbards be purchased.
