Never use polycarbonate plastic bowls on air supplied by a compressor lubricated with synthetic oils or oil containing phosphate esters or chlorinate hydrocarbons. They can carry over into the air distribution systems and chemically attack and possibly rupture the bowls. For these applications use a metal bowl. Materials such as trichloroethylene, acetone, paint thinner or cleaning fluids will craze and/or rupture a polycarbonate bowl. When these materials are present either inside or outside the bowl, use metal bowls.
