The sturdy rooks are designed to look like solid castles with impregnable walls, pawns are made to look minimalist with slim collars, bishops with simple mitres, the tall elegant king readily distinguished by its cross and the queen has a distinctive coronet. Showstoppers of the set, Knights are inspired by the horses in the Elgin Marbles from the Athenian Parthenon.
