Congratulations! You have discovered Turkeywoods Farm Shagbark Hickory Syrup, an award-winning "adult" gourmet syrup, now available in a two-bottle set. This is New England's original, and the longest continual-production hickory syrup in existence. All-natural, hand made on our Connecticut farm in small batches with a sugar blend expertly formulated by the owner of Turkeywoods Farm, who holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry. This is the highest quality hickory syrup available, and as a "pure" hickory syrup is not flavored with vanilla, whiskey, spices, oak, fruit or any other flavorings. The excellent flavor profile of our syrup is due solely to hickory bark and a specific blend of natural sugars. Note that hickory syrup is not a sap-based syrup. It is made from a hickory bark extraction (i.e. hickory bark tea) with added sugars, as has been done for centuries beginning with early American settlers. Our syrup is not made from high fructose corn syrup, as are many cheap breakfast syrups. The sweeteners we use are identical to those present in maple syrup, and include simply sucrose, fructose and glucose. Pure Fructose is not to be confused with high fructose corn syrup! Fructose (pure fruit sugar) is a flavor and sweetness enhancer, and its presence in our syrup in small amounts means a little goes a long way.
